The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) is a federal-level organisation within the UAE government responsible for ensuring a fair and competitive labour market that meets the needs of employers and employees.
The ministry is also responsible for increasing the participation of UAE nationals in private-sector employment (a process known as Emiratisation). Their aim is to achieve this through activities such as employment counselling, training, and provision of networking opportunities to students, jobseekers, and employees in the country.
As part of this responsibility the ministry sought to develop an online platform, known as Tawteen, for jobseekers and employers. It would serve as a gateway to private-sector employment for citizens and provide recruitment and workforce compliance tools for employers.
Given that this project was already underway when I joined RBBi my initial challenge was to appraise the progress the design team had made and pick up the relationship with key client stakeholders.
Unfortunately I came to understand that progress was behind schedule and that the client had doubts about the agency being able to successfully complete the scoped design work within a previously agreed timeline.
As such I immediately initiated a plan to optimise the project plan and get progress back on track. Ensuring that the principal client stakeholder was confident that the right action was being taken and that I was committed to whatever it took to ensure success.
